Biodiversity and culinary heritage, a calendar of Autumn talks on the Italian Riviera

 


From Genoa to Savona, Autumn 2023 thrives in meeting opportunities in the Italian Riviera: food talks - all with free admission - that food historian and essayist Umberto Curti has designed in collaboration with municipalities, park authorities, libraries, museums, DOP consortia, cultural associations, and food bloggers.

Gustincontri®, conferences, book and magazine presentations: focus on Liguria's natural and cultural biodiversity, culinary heritage, society and history, local identity and territorial excellence.

As a cross-cultural communication expert in the food sector, I will attend all meetings and provide language assistance to English-speaking guests.

Thursday 21/09, h 17, Launch of the "Biodiversità a Tavola" (i.e., Biodiversity at the table) cycle, planned with Biblioteca Civica Berio, the most renowned library in Genoa: Umberto Curti converses with Daniele Buschiazzo, president of the Parco Beigua, UNESCO global geopark, on the "Gustosi per Natura" preservation and promotion project.

Thursday 19/10 h 17, Biblioteca Civica Berio (Genoa), "Biodiversità a Tavola" cycle, Umberto Curti talks with the Consorzio di Tutela olio extravergine DOP Riviera Ligure (i.e., PDO Riviera Ligure EVO Protection Consortium) about issues related to food supply chains, cultivars, traceability.

Thursday 26/10, h 17, Biblioteca Saffi, Umberto Curti illustrates culinary history and customs in 16th century Genoa with an overview of noble and popular tables.

Friday 27/10, h 17.30, Museo del Risorgimento-Istituto Mazziniano (Genoa), Umberto Curti will take part in the event "Genova nell'Ottocento tra cultura e gastronomia. Gli ingredienti per una nuova società" (i.e., Culture and gastronomy in 19th century-Genoa. The ingredients of a new society), curated by Elena Putti (Museum curator), with Alice De Matteo (author of Il Risorgimento tra storia e cucina - The Risorgimento between history and cuisine), and Genoese pastry chefs - and keepers of traditions - Alessandro Cavo and Lino La Iacona.

Thursday 16/11, h 17, Biblioteca Civica Berio (Genoa), "Biodiversità a Tavola" cycle, Umberto Curti talks about historical recipes with Marco Benvenuto, food blogger and creator of "Zena a toua".

Friday 24/11, h 16.30, Province of Savona (Palazzo Nervi, exhibition hall), Silvia Bottaro, President of the 'Renzo Aiolfi' cultural association, presents Umberto Curti's recent volume "Sustainability and Biodiversity. A glossary".

Thursday 30/11 h 17, Biblioteca Saffi (Genoa), Umberto Curti narrates the ancient traditions related to Christmas lunch in Genoa.

Thursday 14/12 h 17, Biblioteca Civica Berio (Genoa), "Biodiversità a Tavola" cycle, Umberto Curti talks about Futurist cuisine with Silvia Bottaro, author of "Vite di Farfa. Letters, encounters, friendships, successes".

Friday 15/12 h 17, Sala Rossa of the Savona Town Hall: Umberto Curti participates in the presentation of the new issue of 'Pigmenti Cultura', the magazine of the 'Renzo Aiolfi' association, on which he has published a piece on food exchanges - from Columbus onwards - between the New and Old Worlds.
