Spotorno, the village of poets
Spotorno |
D.H. Lawrence, the author of "Lady Chatterley's
Lover", was bewitched by the small village of Spotorno: "there is a
moon so bright that even the vines cast a shadow and the Mediterranean glitters
with great whiteness in its darkness"...
Located a few kilometres from Finale Ligure, Spotorno enjoys an enchanting location between the
Gulf of Noli and the isle of Bergeggi, with kilometres of beaches and a wide
choice of accommodation facilities.
It would be a mistake to define it as a mere seaside
resort. The nearby Marine Protected Area of the Isle of Bergeggi (to the east),
and the Posidonia oceanica meadow on the border with Noli (to the west),
make it an ideal destination for divers from all over Italy. One of Europe's
most exciting swimming events takes place here: SWIMTHEISLAND (for 2021 the
dates were October 2nd-3rd). The entroterra offers spectacular walks and
mountain bike trails fit for all levels. The ascent to Monte Mao provides a
panoramic view of both the gulf and the isle, as experts guide you in the
discovery of wild herbs. There is a paragliding and hang-gliding station at the
summit.
Beach volleyball is practised in the Palabeach Village
all year round (an excellent venue for sand sports).
The food and wine scene boasts a number of treats. The Sancio Winery stands on a hill: white wines such as Pigato and Vermentino, red wines such as Rossese. Riccardo Sancio is also one of the keepers of typical, local Lumassina white wine.
A few steps away, the Azienda Agricola Sancio
Cristian features limited quantities and great quality. Check yourself and book
your visit: discover the entire production chain, from the olive groves to the
oil mill.

This is the fascinating world of tastes and crafts that LiguriabyLuisa discloses to foreign markets and buyers (tour operators, travel agencies, organizations, associations, food&wine dealers and import/export professionals....).
